The "2026 ALEA III Summer Meetings” and the “Forum: Young Composers - Young Performers" give the opportunity to college age composers and performers to spend ten days on the splendid island of Naxos, play music, exchange ideas, create new works and enjoy the beaches and the 5,000 year history of an island in the heart of the Aegean Sea.
The programs are presented in collaboration of ALEA III with YriaRT Productions, the Region of Southern Aegean, the Municipality of Naxos and Small Cyclades, the Tragea Cultural Council and the National Kapodistrian Univeristy of Athens.
The core ensemble includes: flute, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, piano, 2 violins, viola, cello and SATB vocal quartet.
- The young composers create and propose new works for any combination of the above instruments. The new works may be read, performed and/or video taped to be released online.
- The performers are encouraged to prepare and present works belonging to any musical genre, era and style.
- Audio/visual and other artists looking for an opportunity to work with composers and performers are also welcome.
- All have the oportunity to give a presentation on any topic of their choice (college level paper, Master’s or Doctorate dissertation)
The Meetings and the Forum operate as a Workshop for composers and performers to freely experiment with their ideas. The approach allows space for the creative mind to operate without the usual boundaries of a festival. Activities and content of events and concerts are largely determined by the participants.
Bring your works, your instrument, your film, your art, your ideas for a project to work together with peers.
The meetings are free and open to all who wish to be active participants or spectators.
