The Naxos Bassoon Days seminar is organized by ALEA III (Contemporary Music Ensemble in Residence at Boston University, Theodore Antoniou, music director), from August 23rd until August 28th, 2016 and will take place on the historic island of Naxos, at the center of the Aegean Archipelago in Greece. See Naxos on CNN.
The main goal of the seminar is to bring together bassoon players to discuss repertoire and instrumental techniques. In addition,
the ALEA III international composition competition has been announced
for works featuring one to ten bassoons.
Daily activities will include individual lessons, master classes, chamber music rehearsals, as well as workshops on woodwind topics and student concerts. In addition time will be allocated for daily visits to various locations of archaeological interest, as Naxos’ history dates back 5,000 years, and to some of the most beautiful beaches in all of the Mediterranean. The detailed program will be announced once the registration period ends.
Participants may wish to enrich their experience by attending any sessions of the 2016 ALEA III Summer Meetings (August 22 - 31, 2016).
